Saving Private Ryan Review by tem on 16 - 3 - 2010 I hold S. Spielberg in high regards as a director but I don't think that all of his work has the same value. This movie I didn't like: thought it was too long, too much of the artificial "movie"-stuff, etc. The actors, the story (even if it was based on some events) didn't convince me and I'd not bring myself watching it again. Tom Hanks was the only actor who actually remembered about acting per se; and, though I still think it's not really his "type" of role he did well in SPR. The main idea of the movie wasn't presented believably and, in fact, it had the whole opposite effect on me. Don't think that the question: "Why did they need to get many people killed to get "the private"? - was intended as the question that should be left for the audience to wonder about. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl Review by tem on 16 - 3 - 2010 Very good movie. Acting, directing, music, great stunts, the developed and completed story line - everything came together. The movie that brought the new life into the genre and kept the romantics' spirit of it. I liked the camera work, the sets, the costumes. CGI part is very good. My favorite acting work here: O. Bloom/Will, J. Davenport/Norrington, Barbossa/G. Rush. These characters I'm ready to watch over and over again. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Shutter Island Review by Maarten van den Heuvel on 22 - 2 - 2010 Martin Scorsese made a pretty impressive movie with a great (but well-known) story. DiCaprio is a great actor and plays the best part. After reviewing his IMDb profile, no one can deny that almost every movie he touches goes for gold. This movie is definitely worth your time. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Edge of Darkness Review by Maarten van den Heuvel on 6 - 2 - 2010 Nice movie. A bit slow from time to time but not boring to watch.. I am not sure if Mel Gibson was well casted for this part but nevertheless, I liked the movie and his personal performance. There were some nice twists in the script as well. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Triangle Review by Maarten van den Heuvel on 6 - 2 - 2010 Probably the worst movie I've seen in a long time. The story was quite innovative.. Problem was that after half an hour you knew what was going to happen for the rest of the time. Which is quite frustrating in the horror/thriller genre. I was not particularly impressed with the performance of any of the actors either. Therefore, not worth your time or money! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Sherlock Holmes Review by Maarten van den Heuvel on 11 - 1 - 2010 Great movie! Despite what many professional reviews say it is a great movie. Funny and with many well written conversations between Holmes and Watson. I guess that this movie will not get an Oscar nomination but I had a very good time watching it. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Avatar Review by Maarten van den Heuvel on 17 - 12 - 2009 Amazing movie. The special effects, 3D effects and graphics of the movie overall are amazing. Definitely the best I've ever seen. However, the story is not that spectacular or innovative. It is worth a visit to the cinema but you need to see this one in 3D!! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

The Road to Guantanamo Review by Nate Brewer on 16 - 12 - 2009 The Road to Guantanamo has a soul-stirring power and immediacy that's tough to look away from. Whatever you do, don't miss this one. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Red Eye Review by Nate Brewer on 16 - 12 - 2009 It's all too big and too self-conscious, culminating in a third-act chase that makes one preposterous move after another. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

The Skeleton Key Review by Nathanial Brewer on 16 - 12 - 2009 Lushly atmospheric and sporadically scary, this supernatural horror relies on characters and actors rather than effects but is defeated by cliches and illogical confrontations. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
